My name is BobbyJo Bloom, but most people call me BJ. 

I am: 

·   An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

·   A Registered Nurse experienced in all aspects of Maternal-Child Health: Prenatal, Post-partum, Newborn, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit medical care.

·   A Certified Childbirth Educator

·   A mother of 2 teenagers who were breastfed for their 1st year..  

My most recent endeavor (while still living in Maryland) was working as a consultant in an OB/Gyn’s office offering private childbirth classes and peri-natal lactation consultations.  I believe that my specialized nursing background coupled with my registration as an IBCLC allows me to offer personalized care to clients in the community. 

In my experience, the mother-baby dyad benefits better from in-home, hands on consultations rather than having to drag everyone and everything into an office or clinic.  As a lactation consultant, I work collaboratively with doctors and their staff to facilitate favorable outcomes in establishing and maintaining breastfeeding.  

I get the most pleasure out of being with my family!  I would like to thank my husband, Eric, for being such a wonderful husband and father and for being so supportive of my goals to help other mothers and their families.  I would like to thank my children (young adults), Sami and Max, for their encouragement and understanding when I'm pulled away from them and their activities to work with a mom and baby.
