My Lactation Consultation includes:

~  Taking a general health & birth history and discuss how prenatal and postpartum history of mother and baby may impact breastfeeding

~  Examine condition of mother’s breasts

~  Assessment of infant's general health and oral anatomy, including baby’s suck

 ~  Observation of the mother and baby during breastfeeding

 ~  Focus on mother’s postpartum health and nutrition

~  Hands-on education of breastfeeding techniques

~ Weigh baby pre- and post- feeding to confirm amount of milk transferred using a specialized scale

 
~  Developing a care plan, with recommendations for resolving breastfeeding difficulties
